Answer: Windex has a bunch of chemicals in it, including a little ammonia. Nail polish has acetone which is poisonous as can be, but it evaporates in air like crazy. Internal consumption of either is stupid and deadly with a lot of pain.
Answer: there ~ I jut found Cover Girl "Crackle" at the Dollar Tree. I am not sure if you have one where you live, but they are all over the country. The Dollar Tree is a local dollar store. If you do not have one, try any other local dollar store you might have. The Dollar Tree had about 5 combinations. I bought each. Answer: Yes! A toenail fungus can live between the nail and the polish. Also, the polish should definitely be discarded after use on infected nails. You can pick up a bottle of nail fungus remover over the counter at most pharmacies. You will be better off to keep polish of your nails until the fungus is gone. (I learned this while in college for Nail Technology).
