There are several apps that can help with tracking. My personal favorite in MY Fitness Pal - it is available as a website as well as Android and IOS. A typical calorie restricted diet will be from 1200-1700 calories per day. Many people will start off at the higher end of that spectrum, gauge their results and adjust from there. Avoiding high calorie foods like pizza and junk food is a big help here. Healthy foods like fish, chicken and vegetables and fruits are your best bet. You can eat a lot more and not have the high calorie cost. Just the act of tracking what you eat and being aware of the calorie count can be a nice step in the right direction.
